Deer

This 12-foot-tall fiberglass deer is certainly not the timid forest dweller we commonly see wandering through the Ozark woods. Tony Tasset’s sculpture references kitschy yard ornaments like plastic flamingos or holiday reindeer that people use to decorate their lawns. The artist is influenced by popular culture, Disney World, and iconic American images. Here Tasset has enlarged a white tail deer—a familiar presence in the North Forest--to incredible proportions.
