Georgia O'Keeffe
Alfred Stieglitz claimed that to demand a single image be “a complete portrait of any person is as futile as to demand that a motion picture be condensed into a single still." Stieglitz took this picture of Georgia O'Keeffe near the beginning of their relationship. He would go on to create over 300 photographs of her from 1917–1937, which together produced a composite portrait. Over time, these intimate photos began to influence how people viewed O'Keeffe's paintings.
