Already Set in Motion
The multiple, dyed-redwood blocks that comprise this sculpture create a stair-stepped pattern that seemingly defies gravity. Inspired by both the strength of wood and its ability to hold multiple states and forms, Robyn Horn used a chainsaw to transform one single block of redwood into several. Horn made small-scale wooden sculptures for several years before feeling compelled to create monumental works, such as this.
