Lines Take Shape
Alice Trumbull Mason fue una defensora el arte abstracto a lo largo de toda su carrera. En un ensayo de 1938, explicaba: “Hoy en día, el poder de maravillarse ha vuelto a cobrar vida. El pintor abstracto lo encuentra, esencialmente, en sus materiales, y trabaja con la magia de las texturas, de los colores yuxtapuestos para crear intensidades que muestren movimiento, de cierta forma similar a como el escultor moldea el aire con sus construcciones”. De esta manera, el pintor abstracto construye “un nuevo mundo imaginativo”.
